Pavlova Twins Star in Mulberry Winter 2016 Ad Campaign

Twin Models Lia and Odette Pavlova Star in the Mulberry Winter 2016 Fashion Ad Campaign and Film.

Mulberry’s Winter 2016 campaign sees double with the feature of twin models, Lia and Odette Pavlova. It seems throughout the campaign Mulberry explores duality: similarities within differences and differences within similarities. The runway models are photographed in a series of stills named “Self/Reflection.” The campaign was shot by photographer Coco Capitan and directed by creative director Johnny Coca.

It is the second campaign that Coco Capitan has shot for Mulberry. Johnny Coca praised Capitan’s unique way of seeing the world and how this beautifully abstract sense of sight manifests itself in its portrayal in her photography. “Her images feel like very specific moments that just happen to have been captured. Coco is fresh and always brings her unique vision to the project,” Coca elaborated further to express his appreciation for the photographer.

The 22-year-old model sisters are photographed from above with the playful placement of a reflective mirror. Such styling physically and aesthetically created a visual illusion both intriguing and dynamic. The campaign forces an alternate perception. Along with styling by Katy England, the campaign gave insight to the identity of the Mulberry woman, she who is both strong and striking, whilst soft and feminine. Mulberry’s FW16 collection dress the twin models, a collection which took inspiration from the streets of London. Asymmetrical slip dresses were layered over sheer, ruffled blouses.

In speaking to the role both models played, creative director, Johnny Coca explained, “Lia and Odette have such distinctive looks and we played with their ‘twinness’ to twist the idea of reflection – sometimes you’re looking at one girl in a mirror, sometimes you see two, reflecting each other in their pose instead. The result is intriguing and playful.”

An accompanying film directed by Albert Moya supports the campaign. Part 2 of the campaign film is said to be released in September. Check out the Mulberry Winter 2016 Fashion Campaign film below and head over to the brand’s site to see more.
